"The Kenny Family had made a remarkable contribution to the cultural life of the region and Ireland" - Mr Keating (Connacht Sentinel 23-09-1975)
In September, Gerry returned to Galway from Dublin and embarked on the journey of establishing his own bookbinding workshop. He set up the bindery behind his parents' residence, Des and Maureen's in Salthill. At that point, it was the third bookbinding establishment in Galway, joining O'Gormans on Shop Street and Corrib Printers.
The bindery commenced operations with a team of three: Gerry Kenny, Mike Conlon, and Monica Kenny (Gerry’s sister).
Gerry did his bookbinding apprenticeship at JF Newmans, mentored by master bookbinders Des Breen and Cathal O'Grady.
